Hume city is north-west of Melbourne, extending from the Western Ring Road, Broadmeadows, to the foothills of the Macedon Ranges, Clarkefield. Its western boundary is the Calder Freeway and the Maribyrnong River, and its eastern boundary is the Merri Creek. Between these streams there are also Deep and Jacksons Creeks (tributaries of the Maribyrnong) and the Moonee Ponds Creek.
The city’s area is 503 sq km, comprising rural land (65%), urban (25%), and airport (10%).
